Dear Sirs,

We would like to request an anticipated ship date for our H1N1 vaccines. We are a pediatric office with our entire patient population being within the target population group, as well as some severely immunocompromised children who are highly recommended to receive the vaccination.  Our office has created waitlists with the assumption that we would be receiving that vaccine shipment within the month of October as informed by your office.  The original ship dates we were given by your telephone staff members were Oct. 15 or 16, 2009.  Our office understands the current shipment and distribution issues being encountered by the CDC and vaccine makers, but if government medical facilities are the only medical offices who will receive this shipment, we need to notify our patient population that they must go to a clinic to receive the H1N1 vaccine rather than wait for us to receive our delayed shipment. Thanks for your time.

Regards,

Jaime Serrano

You’re correct that the original anticipated date was October.  AS you have probably hear d nationwide, projections of available vaccine have changed significantly.  Instead of 100 million doses by month’s end, there will be 28 million doses nationwide with 69 million doses expected by end of November and with more available in December until manufacturers are able to reach the goal of 195 million doses.  Currently, we focused on local health departments and hospitals as that has been the basis of the state’s pandemic flu plan since it was first written and knowing there would be adjustments made in the ACIP priority groups.  As allocation increases, we will be expanding the scope of providers that have submitted their orders statewide so that those can be approved by CDC and shipped from McKesson.  We understand the concern and frustration but are working within the available supply at this time.
