F.A.Q.

1.When are you getting your vaccine supply?
We were previously told by public health officials that the Pandemic H1N1 (swine) flu vaccine would be shipped by the last week of October or first week of November.  As you may have heard from the media, there have been greater manufacturing and distribution challenges than initially anticipated.  The states have been received a small initial supply.   They have distributed some of these doses to hospitals and local health departments for administration to those at greatest risk of complications or of transmission to the most vulnerable.  We  have had correspondence with the Department of Public Health (click here to view) and have been told that we should expect most of the doses to be shipped in November and December.  For those who feel great urgency to receive the vaccine, several public health immunization clinics have been recently announced (click here for info).  The seasonal flu vaccine shipments have also been delayed due to reallocation of resources toward swine flu vaccine production.  We will do our best to keep you informed and we appreciate everyone's understanding and patience in this matter.
2..Can the seasonal and Pandemic H1N1 (swine) flu shots be given at the same time?
Yes, except that if Flumist nasal spray is given for both Seasonal and Pandemic flu, they must be separated by at least 2 weeks.  Any other combination of shots and spray (i.e. 1 shot/1 spray, 2 shots) can be done simultaneously.
3.Do you plan to vaccinate parents of children in the practice for Pandemic H1N1 (swine) flu?
Yes, we requested from the state health department sufficient doses of Pandemic vaccine to vaccinate parents.  This was based on previous usage of seasonal flu vaccine (including parents).  We are unsure at this point what the health department will actually ship to us.
